Wesan's swimming

In order to get some exercise, I use to go swimming once a week. I have done that since beginning of 1999. At the pool at the sports centre where I use to swim, they have so called "swim cards" ("simkort" in Swedish), where they can write down the distance you swim each time. I have asked them to do that every time I swim, since May 9 2000. The distance I used to swim each time was 1 250 meters. I have now increased the distance to 2 000 meters each time.

There are different exercise swimming badges you can buy, depending on the total distance you have swum according to your swim card. There are badges for 1 kilometer, 5 kilometers, 10, 25, 50, 100, 250, 500 and 1 000 kilometers.  So far, I have achieved the 1 kilometer, 5 kilometers, 10 kilometers, 25 kilometers, 50 kilometers and 100 kilometers badges. Swimming is a good way to exercise, so if YOU are able to swim, why not try it?

This page is for you who would like to follow my swimming and see how the total distance grows. Maybe it will inspire some of you, to start swimming for exercise as well? :-) I will try to update this page regularly, so that you can follow my "progress".

News November 21 2001: Last week, I achieved the 100 kilometers badge! :-) The next swimming badge to go for, is the 250 kilometers badge. Will I achieve that badge too? Keep visiting this page, and you'll find out! ;-) 

News May 22 2002: Today I reached 150 000 meters in total distance, which means there's exactly 100 000 meters left to the 250 kilometers badge! All I need to do now, is keep on swimming! :-)

News February 13 2003: Today I reached 200 000 meters in total distance. Only 50 000 meters left to the 250 kilometers badge! I've never been this close to that badge... ;-)

That was a bit disturbing, especially when their ball came into the exercise swimming lanes and they had to fetch it. Still, it was an OK swim altogether.

The staff at the pool are thinking about maybe making their own swim cards instead.

August 28 2002 2 000 meters 170 000 meters   As far as I know, it seldom happens. But today, there was an accident at the pool. A boy fell in the waterchute and knocked out his two front teeth. The swimming-pool attendent found one of them at the top of the waterchute and the other in the pool at the end of the waterchute. This was scary to both the boy and the staff. Luckily enough, the boy seemed fine otherwise. Falling and hitting oneself like that, could cause much more serious injuries.
